A public toolkit of templates, prompts, workflows, examples, and evaluation checks for municipal AI governance.
City AI Policy Toolkit is a public, reusable toolkit for city teams and civic partners building municipal AI governance.
It is intended for small and mid-sized cities that need more than a standalone AI policy document. The toolkit helps teams create practical operating assets such as leadership charters, governance workflows, AI intake paths, risk-tier review processes, system registers, launch-readiness checks, monitoring routines, staff learning plans, public notice workflows, and review-readiness materials.
The project is for city managers, CIOs, innovation and IT leads, legal and records reviewers, procurement staff, privacy and security reviewers, accessibility and civil-rights reviewers, communications teams, civic technologists, public-interest consultants, and community trust partners.
The toolkit is in an early public toolkit stage. Its intended impact is to help cities start responsibly, keep local decisions visible, avoid treating examples as default policy, and prepare materials for proper local legal, records, procurement, privacy, accessibility, labor, cybersecurity, civil-rights, budget, communications, and executive review.
People can help by reviewing the templates and workflows, testing the quickstart path, flagging confusing language, suggesting missing governance or operating assets, improving examples, and opening issues or pull requests on GitHub.
I do have a city for it as well: https://cityaipolicy.org/
