Nonprofit AI platform making every bill plain-English and letting verified voters register, vote on legislation, and send weekly feedback directly to their reps.
Full 50-state tracking + live API. Truth In Polling (TruthInPolling.com) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit civic tech platform that makes politics transparent, understandable, and actionable for everyday Americans. We use AI to turn complex federal and state legislation into plain-language summaries (6th–8th grade reading level) so voters can quickly grasp what each bill changes, who pays, who enforces it, and its real impacts. Verified voters can then cast “approve / disapprove / no opinion” votes on pending bills, compare their positions to their representatives’ actual votes (with alignment scores), and send weekly personalized feedback directly to their district and federal officials. When did it begin? The organization, Truth In Polling, Inc., was founded by Daniel W. Eaves Jr. in Indiana. It received 501(c)(3) public charity status effective October 16, 2025. The founding letter dated March 2026 serves as the permanent public record of our origins and nonpartisan mission. The live platform with AI summaries, citizen voting, and the public REST API has been actively developed and iterating since late 2025, with full 50-state legislative tracking now live. Who’s it for? It’s built for every verified American voter — the 168+ million registered voters who want to stay informed without wading through dense legalese. We especially aim to empower busy citizens, students, and communities who feel disconnected from the legislative process. Features like address-based voter verification, weekly district digests, and gamified Civic XP elements make participation effortless and ongoing. It is strictly nonpartisan, with all data drawn directly from official sources (Congress.gov, state APIs, FEC records) and strong guardrails against bias or advocacy. What impact has it had? As an early-stage project, we’re focused on building momentum through real civic participation:
Over 5,800+ AI-generated bill summaries created so far, covering thousands of federal and state bills. More than 1,000 citizen votes already cast on real pending legislation. Full tracking of 18 million+ (and growing) campaign finance records, $57B+ in earmarks, and predictive models showing donor influence and promise-keeping. The platform is live with a public API (19 endpoints) that developers and researchers can use to build on transparent government data. We’re currently piloting with Zionsville High School (Indiana) to bring practical civics education into classrooms, aligning with state standards and programs like the National Civics Bee.
While still growing, every new verified voter and vote helps create aggregated, district-level signals that representatives can see — turning passive reading into active, accountable participation. How can people help?
