SomosTorre launched in May 2026 as a free civic intelligence platform for the residents of Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain — a post-industrial city of ~51,800 people facing the digital gap common to mid-sized European municipalities: city data exists, but scattered across dozens of disconnected government portals that most residents never use.

Who it's for: Any resident of Torrelavega who wants to know what's happening in their city — from the price of electricity this hour to whether the river is flooding, which pharmacy is on duty tonight, or where the nearest free parking space is. No technical knowledge required. Free, no ads, no data selling.

What it does: Aggregates 27 official open data sources in real time — public transport (Renfe, Torrebus, Torrebici), live traffic via DGT, river levels via SAIH Cantabria, electricity prices via ESIOS/REE, weather and beach quality via AEMET and NÁYADE, pollen, pharmacies, parking, fuel prices, municipal bulletins, city statistics and more. Also includes Torre IA (an AI assistant answering live local queries), Incidencias Ciudadanas (AI-moderated citizen incident reporting with community voting), Karma Cívico (gamified civic participation), and personalised push notifications self-selected by each resident.

Impact so far: 1,000+ active users and 493 voluntary registered accounts in the first five weeks with zero marketing spend. 19 civic incident reports filed. Submitted to the World Smart City Awards 2026 (SCEWC Barcelona). In conversation with Spain's Red Española de Ciudades Inteligentes (RECI, 167 municipalities) about replication across other Spanish cities.
