Founded in March 2026 by Long Nguyen, Kahu Ola is an independent civic technology platform that aggregates real-time hazard data from NASA FIRMS, NOAA HMS, NWS Honolulu, NIFC WFIGS, EPA AirNow, USGS HVO, and PacIOOS into a single interface for Hawaiʻi communities. It is wildfire-first, privacy-first, and free to use. Tech stack: Cloudflare Workers, MapLibre GL, Vanilla JavaScript, Cloudflare Pages. The platform helps residents, emergency responders, and visitors make informed decisions about wildfire, air quality, weather, and volcanic hazards across the Hawaiian Islands.
